Project Overview
This Oakville kitchen storage commission solved a common problem in older homes: nowhere near enough pantry space, and what little existed was disorganized and hard to access. The clients had a spare room adjacent to the kitchen and wanted to convert one full wall into a proper pantry and overflow storage system.
We built a floor-to-ceiling cabinetry wall finished in a muted sage grey — a colour that sits quietly against the white walls without demanding attention. The doors are full-height sliding panels on concealed hardware, which meant no swing clearance needed and the wall presents as a clean, uninterrupted facade when closed.
Behind the doors, the interior is entirely adjustable shelving in white — deep enough for bulk pantry items on the lower shelves, with shallower shelving toward the top for canned goods, spices, and smaller items. The right section handles cookware and kitchen equipment, with shelf heights customized to accommodate dutch ovens, mixing bowls, and bakeware without wasted vertical space. The left section manages dry goods and food storage.
The result is the equivalent of a proper walk-in pantry without requiring a dedicated room — every square foot of the wall is working storage, and the sliding doors mean the space reads as part of the room rather than a utility closet. It's one of those projects where the impact on daily life far outweighs the footprint of the work itself.
